How to Integrate Facebook and Twitter Updates

This is from Tuesday 2.0 on BFM

Since I spent the last couple of weeks talking about Twitter, I thought I’d use today to show you how to integrate your Twitter and Facebook updates. Facebook’s Twitter application makes this a simple process.

I’m going to assume that you already have both a Twitter and a Facebook account. First, log in to Facebook, and go to the Twitter application page. Click on the ‘go to application’ link in the upper right corner.

Go to Twitter app

The application will ask you to confirm that Twitter can access your Facebook account. Click on ‘Allow.’ (No screen shot here, since I’m already using it and don’t have that option.)

Next you will have to log in to your Twitter account. (It’s the standard Twitter web login screen)

Once you’ve logged in to Twitter to finalize the Twitter app setup, you can either update your Twitter status from the Facebook screen, or use Twitter to update your Facebook status. You can update your Twitter status from Facebook at this screen,

Facebook to update Twitter

What I do is the reverse; I use Twitter to update my Facebook status. To do this, click on the Allow Twitter to Update Your Facebook Status button in the upper-right of the screen. You will get a confirmation screen; click on “allow status updates.”

That’s all you need to do to set up Twitter and Facebook integration. If you would like to be selective about which Tweets are used to update your Facebook status, use the Selective Twitter Status application instead of the Twitter app. The application setup process is similar, but this application allows you to choose which tweets get posted to Facebook, through the use of #fb.
