If you recall, there was a ballot issue regarding the consolidation of the Perry and Morrice school districts, back in January. The consolidation was defeated with 73% voting against it. I didn’t follow the issue that closely, and I didn’t realize that the MEA was such an important player in defeating the measure:
MEA stood by their side throughout the campaign, providing legal and communications advice, daily guidance from UniServ directors and answering myriad questions. “Anything we asked for, we received,” Perry EA President Dave Myron said. “You don’t realize how much help MEA provides until you really need it.” Added Morrice EA President Cathy Edington: “The support we received from MEA was awesome. I’m proud of my state association and our local associations for helping defeat this consolidation attempt.”
That’s from the MEA Voice Today.
Congrats to the folks who were involved in defeating the consolidation.
