Shiawassee To Lose Over $165K In Revenue Sharing

Here’s what the Republican Senate passed last night …

Republican revenue sharing cuts

The cuts total $165,351. In terms of total dollars, the City of Owosso takes the biggest hit, at a loss of over $78,000. Durand, Corunna, Perry, and Laingsburg follow, with a combined loss of over $54,000. In terms of percentage, our five cities join six of our villages in a 4.4% cut. The Village of Ovid will be cut at 3.8% (which amounts to a measly $7.00). Rush township is the only one of our seven townships to face a cut, which is 3.1%.

Revenue sharing usually pays for things like public safety.

These cuts are not yet law, but the Senate Republicans passed these budget cuts last night. Don’t forget this is in addition to the funds they want to cut from our schools.

Contact State Representative Dick Ball and tell him that Shiawassee cannot afford these cuts: 1-877-558-5426.
