Shiawassee Not Likely To Pursue Civil Suit

Shiawassee County doesn’t seem likely to pursue civil litigation against Bernie Butcher or Gary Holzhausen, based on a report from the forums:

“At today’s (3/20/07) committee of the whole meeting. Cmr Pavlica made a motion to not pursue any further(stating we need closure on this), seconded by Chairman VanPelt. Then a motion to table until the April 10th Committee of the Whole meeting to give the ‘new’ cmrs (Stewart and Johnson) time.”

I don’t know what kind of ‘time’ they think Stewart & Johnson need … those commissioners have a better grasp on the needs of the county than their 3 counterfeit counterparts. But I like the sound of closure.

It was Stewart and Johnson who thought they needed the time, and requested it.

Other cmrs were prepared to vote and I think several were in favor of ending the charade.

    At least two, definitely not.

Colbry’s glorious performance may have put some confusion on the issue for the two new guys.

Hopefully they can clear the mud and find their way to end this.

It sounded like Pavlica was just insulting the new guys again, like when he said they needed more training. What a class act, to say that in a board meeting.

I don’t know if it’s good news or not, that they requested more time. Seems pretty straight-forward to me. A 30 minute presentation by an ethically challenged prosecutor shouldn’t be given that much thought.

  3. I could not understand at all why Johnson and Stewart said they needed more time? This is straight forward, the AG letter spells it out, if you can understand that. Colbry through out some more lies that could easily be disproved in a court of law. Colbry’s Kangaroo court proceedings are getting ridiculous and how much more money and time does he want to spend on this? Oh, I forgot, Colbry loves to waste our taxpayers dollars.

I do not want to speak for Dan and Jack, but I know that they take a lot of time to formulate an opinion. They are not likely to hear information in a meeting and just move on it without investing time and a logical thought process into any decision they make. To be perfectly honest, I think that is what needs to happen more often by many elected officials. Being spoon-fed information by one side, or even hearing two sides to a story and making a hasty decision without trying to look at repercussions for those actions has gotten us into the mess we are currently in.

They have been in office for less than 90 days, this garbage has been going on for two years. All the information has not been forthcoming to the general public, and being members of the general public prior to their election, they didn’t have even a portion of the information they have now. Let them take a deep breath, formulate their decision and proceed with caution, caring and confidence in their decisions.

Hmmmm… thoughtful, caring, informed, logical… whew, you’re right, way too much to expect from our elected officials.

I kinda understand their need to get better acquainted with the issue………..however, I also understand Colbry’s “presentation” as being a plea to get on with prosecution and what a one-sided pleading that was. Basically he was allowed to say whatever he pleased with no challenge from anyone. Wish we all could do that. He made it sound good, but I am afraid there were some flat out lies in what he said. At the very best, what he said was slanted and did not take into consideration much of what the AG decision said. Didn’t seem to take into consideration some of the facts, either. Well, Colbry did not accept the AG decision, he said. That wasn’t the AG, anyway, that was his assistant. (The AG has over 300 attorneys working for him) Does Colbry expect this to go all the way to the supreme court? Colbry doesn’t handle every case that comes to his office himself. Did he actually believe the AG, himself, would handle this? Get real.

I don’t believe any of your points were lost or missed by either of them.

The AG staff has had ALL of the facts for months and were poured over all of that time. I do not think that supposedly new information (what a farce) changes anything. Colbry would like to prolong this for another 2 years because repeating all of lies over and over again he thinks he can damage Holzhausen. You have a choice of believing the AG staff, the highest legal authority in the state or one ethically challenged backwater prosecutor. This has been investigated every which way and nothing Colbry makes up is going to make a difference.

That’s fine as long as it does not take another 2 years to drag out. That is what Colbry wants.

I don’t believe it will, and I agree with you completely on that issue.

OMG - Mad Dog was in fine form at the board of cmrs meeting yesterday. GH had some comments and Mad Dog just kinda went off (the deep end???) I dunno, the description I got sounded pretty dramatic.

Colbry is pathetic, he need to be removed from office. Even a dog catcher could beat Colbry in the next election. Only problem nobody will run. Kaylor you woud make a good prosecutor.
