Open Meetings Act
February 18th, 2007 | by christine |There’s been some talk in the forums about possible violations of the Open Meetings Act in regards to the resignation of Gregg Geutschow.
There has also been speculation that some of the County Commissioners are illegally using the Open Meetings Act to gag the few commissioners who are willing to inform the public on what the board is doing, as well as to prevent the Democratic commissioners from holding a caucus.
To answer some questions on this issue, the Shiawassee County Democratic Party is hosting a meeting on the OMA. The speaker will be an attorney who is an expert on the OMA. In attendance will be Honorable Francis R Spaniola, one of the signatories to the OMA when it was passed by the State of Michigan. This meeting will take place on February 27, 6:30pm, at the Corunna City Hall. The speaker will give her presentation as soon as the Dems complete the business portion of the meeting. We estimate she will be speaking by 7:30pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.
You can read a copy of the Open Meetings Act on the Shiawassee Wiki.

I was so busy, I did not even see these comments until tonight!
But I was also confused about the date … I think it was originally scheduled for March.
