What’s going on with the dismissal of the US attorneys? The Bush Administration is replacing them with their own “interim” picks … and guess what? The Patriot Act changes the law which allows the Atty General to install an “interim” US attorney in that office for the duration of the President’s Administration. (Prior to the Patriot Act there was a 120 day limit on interim appointments, and Senate confirmation was required for the permanent appointment). So …. why are Bush & Gonzales stacking the deck?
