ILWU On YouTube
November 30th, 2006 | by christine |This morning I received a bulletin from fellow youtuber Bill Orton. Bill has a video archive of ILWU workers on the docks of LA. From Bill’s bulletin:
The ILWU represents 60,000 industrial workers in the five American states of California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska and Hawaii and the Canadian province of British Columbia.
This marks the first time videos shots for the ILWU are deposited into a central location for distribution on the web.
Feel free to view and comment on these clips, which include such things as footage of workers unloading a ship at the Port of Los Angeles, the funeral for Los Angeles labor leader Miguel Contreras, the unveiling of a memorial to fallen longshore workers and members of the ILWU marching in the annual Labor Day parade through Wilmington.
Videos will be added fairly regularly. Let your friends and loved ones know about this page, so that they can also see what it is like on the waterfront and in this union.
