Blog Bits – November 12, 2006

Rockin’ around the Michigan post-election blogosphere …

WK tells us that the Gov new all along that she had a double digit lead. I don’t mind thinking things are tight … it was motivational, to say the least!

Blogger Kaylor is still keeping up with the Shiawassee County Animal Control issues. Right now she’s the only other regular blogger for the Shiawassee area. (to my knowledge)

Dan Ray here, and here. I think I know his dad from the Dems. Dan & I were going to work together on ePluribus News, but I never got it off the ground.

It was cool to see John Cherry mention Bus Spaniola in his blog.

Anyone remember the Tisch Party?

The communications guru predicts that Chris Ward will be running for Valde Garcia’s seat.

“My prediction for the next two years is Mr. Ward will be as scarce in Livingston County as water in the Mojave Desert, but he will be seen frequently in Shiawassee and Ingham Counties as he raises money for his next political office, the open Senate seat in the 22nd District.”

Just Say No To Chris Ward.

This is wicked entertaining, and just goes to show, old reputations die hard.

Joel looks like an interesting guy.

I didn’t know that Gary Martenis started a blog … now that the election is over I hope he gets back into it.

Saul has seen better days. But … Saul did some good things. I don’t care how the power struggle turns out, but he does run a good blog, and he promoted the Michigan Republican blogosphere.

Speaking of, Saul quotes this in today’s articles of interest:

“TURNOUT: Mark Grebner of Practical Political Consultants said the theory that Democrats turned out in higher numbers is “crap. There is not the slightest evidence that Democrats turned out more.” He said his analysis shows turnout was no worse in Republican areas than in Democratic areas of the state.”

In just a glance at local numbers, it seems to me that we did have higher turnout out here. I haven’t analyzed them yet but I think the Dem strongholds turned out higher than normal … though still not nearly high enough.

I didn’t know anything about this absolute access group. Maybe they’ll show up here & tell us a little more about how things are going.

I don’t usually link to Republican blogs, but RM said a couple of things I found interesting —

Most important. Republicans forgot where we came from. First of all, the leftward movement within the party needs to STOP and stop now. Spending is out of control. We need a return to fiscal sanity. People like Mike Pence and the Republican Study Committee need a more active role in setting the agenda for the party.

First — the “leftward movement”? This is another attempt to slander us. As an example of the “leftward movement”, he mentions that spending is out of control.

The left doesn’t spend the crap out of tax dollars. We just don’t cut the bejeezus out of those little things, like public schools. And, we don’t borrow money from our kids to pay our bills. Their lack of discipline is not a “leftward movement”.

Second .. the RSC is one of those lovely groups that want to legislate family values. Their agenda is incompatible with small government and responsible spending. You cannot pass law after law mandating religious values without growing the government and wasting money.

So I am all for the RSC taking over the GOP. They’re the ones who gave us Congress in the first place. Taking a page from their playbook, let’s just call them the ‘kookright’.

Must look a little different from inside the GOP.

(More about the RSC here)

(RM, if you happen to stop by … this is not linkbait, it’s just some thoughts on your comments)

Eric vents a little steam about the insanity at the Detroit News. But I beg of you, good people, to remember that the DetNews is the only msm blog (tmk) that invites people like me to blog. (Not that I don’t agree with Eric in his post …)

Kathleen has a wonderful, matter-of-fact description of that scary liberal mailer.

Throughout this campaign season, I have used Media Mouse as a resource for info. I have always found them to have original and credible information. I encourage you all to visit the Media Mouse site. If you find it helpful, as I have, I hope you will help support them by linking to their site and/or making a donation. They are an excellent example of independent media.
