A JNL Employee Responds To Sen Stabenow (And Me)

November 1st, 2006 | by christine |

I’d like to ask my readers to revisit this post - Jackson National Life Insurance Company Publicly Admits That Outsourcing Is Morally Wrong. A JNL employee has responded with a very thorough explanation of the situation.

He seems troubled by the accusations that JNL outsourced jobs. His explanation, which I have no reason to doubt, makes the outsourcing issue seem to be a bit of a stretch. It would probably upset me too. I have explained my position in a response to his comment.

I encourage readers to comment as well, if you have something to add. All opinions are welcome.

(I looked for press releases about this issue on the JNL site, but I didn’t find anything …)

Update: Joel has more about the matter on his blog.

Update #2: There is a related article here.

Update #3: From the “have your cake and eat it too” department … info about the political contributions for Jackson National Life here, here, and here. Notice that 80% of the spending goes to GOP candidates and committees who support outsourcing Michigan jobs … Dave Camp, Craig DeRoche, and a number of neo-con PACs. (Also notice that they financially supported Mike Nofs, who wrote the revised Michigan Telecommunications Act on behalf of SBC … these revisions, dictated by SBC on SBC letterhead, were harmful to MY EMPLOYER, as well as rural areas who are struggling to build a modern IT infrastructure.) JNL money certainly seems to support outsourcing, even if they are in a position to deny that they support it themselves. Just my read on things …
