Stabenow goes 1st – thanks to everyone, tonight I will talk about my accomplishments, you will hear untruths from the other side.
Bouchard – single state recession lie, Stabenow the biggest spender, Debbie gives social security to illegals. blah blah. my kids, your kids, 40 acres and a mule, you can trust me you stupid people.
Q1 – do you support pre-emptive war, yes or no? Bouch – yes if we have reliable intelligence, Debbie kills intelligence funding. Debbie – I voted against Iraq, which was a war of choice, not necessity. Supported everthing troops have needed.
Q2 – what will it take to get the big 3 going and how can fed govt help? Debbie – 21st century manufacturing strategy, and a President who will sit down with them. President can fundraise for Bouch but not meet with big 3. We need level playing field, get health care cost off business, protect pension, invest in education and innovation. we’re gonna fight for every american job & business. Bouch – there she goes again … blah blah … she has an 18% voting record based on NAM. (national asociation of manufacturing) … something irrelevant about kids failing in school.
Q3 – balance between civil rights & homeland security? Bouch – every day i go to bed thinking ‘what is the worst thing that could happen to america?’ (the next day you get up and read about President Bush doing it) Debbie – we need a balance, I’ve voted to have both. Goes back to Q2 & mentions endorsement of … eeewww… missed it. Trade prosecutor. Nobody who understands better than I do, the middle class way of life.
Q4 – where are we now most vulnerable – Debbie – not fully endorsing & passing the 9/11 commission report. I led effort to create interoperability in communications. I’ve received legis. of year award from police & fire chiefs associations. (2 separate organizations) and many other fine accomplishments that Christine can’t keep up with. Bouch – more talk vs reality. I’m a sheriff, I’m a chair, we meet on homeland security issues, she’s never been to one of my meetings. (waaah) Homeland security funding is pork barrel funding.
Q4 – SS tax ends at about $94K. Should we tax above that? Bouch – opponent has voted to increase taxes, blah blah … (but he isn’t answering yes or no.) I will look at every option .. (so maybe that’s a yes) .. no one can tell based on sand in sandbox … pfft. Debbie – I believe there are other alternatives. It’s absolutely ridiculous what he said about illegal immigrants. SS is a success story. Opponent supports privatization. I was proud to stop that. (THANK YOU DEBBIE!!!!!!!!!)
Q5 – voters are disillusioned with mudslinging. please praise each other. (what kind of freak ass waste of question is that????? IDIOT MODERATOR) Debbie – we should focus on differences in policies. bouchard did a good job with the homeland security dollars I got for him, and his daughter was cute in that tv ad. Bouch – appreciate Senators service, she’s committed, ‘fighting for’ something isn’t getting something. Last year Tigers were fighting to get into playoffs. We changed people & we’re there.
Q6 – explain what values drive your public policy decisions – Bouch – family. single state recession. Lists all the republican hack organizations that have endorsed him and every other republican. Debbie – methodist church, always been important. family. faith, hard work, honesty, ethics. my opponent sits on an insurance board that outsources jobs, gets paid, they will help other companies outsource. that’s not based on values i know we need here.
Q7 – any limit you would put on Iraq war soldiers & $$? Debbie – I have voted to give troops everything they need. Bouch – everything we can that is benchmark driven. quickly as possible to bring our troops home. I don’t outsource. Voted against DOMA & English as official language. She’s out of touch. (go to hell Bouch)
Q8 – how would you shore up medicare – Bouch – is the program relevant? (medicare recipients think so) Debbie – I will not support raising medicare tax. Yes he does outsource. Medicare is a success story.
Q9 – NAFTA, should current trade agreements remain in place? Debbie – new ones that put Americans first. China steals our ideas, manipulates currency, counterfiets. Bouch – We don’t outsource. NAFTA was negotiated by HER president, she’s voted for MFN for China, then comes back and complains about Bush & China.
Q10 – global warming and environmental policy? — Bouch – Debbie filibustered energy policy, but then voted yes. She says “i authored this I authored that”, the only bill she wrote was to rename a federal building. Debbie – global warming is real. It’s ridiculous what my opponent just said, conservative washington times just said there are 19 laws with my name on them. We’re going to have 5 ethanol plants up by the end of this year, and more.
Q11 – canadian trash deal only covers residential, why not get the full load, and what’s wrong with bringing in trash, it’s a revenue generator? Debbie – we don’t want to be the trash dump for other states, and i can’t imagine why anyone would be against bringing trash in. Bouch – Stabenow has been talking trash for nearly a decade, and talking trash is a distraction. Now let me talk trash about her deal.
Q12 – automakers adding production facilities in CA because of their health care – do you support universal health care? Debbie – health care is a right, not a priviledge. employer based health care costs us jobs. If the Pres would meet with the Big 3, that’s something they’d like to talk about. Bouch – the Senator can’t get a meeting with the President. (no kidding, he wants to help YOU get elected Bouch) I don’t support universal health care that the govt runs. tort reform will lower cost. by taking away the punishment for practicing bad medicine
Q13 – spending? Bouch – she’s the biggest spender. Debbie – that’s another ridiculous statement.
Q14 – how do we restore faith in congress? Debbie – co-sponsored lobby reform. my own opponent chaired the insurance committee, and now is on an insurance board and is paid for that. Stop the revolving door. Bouch – I put handcuffs on people. (fear me) Reid just made money on land, she should give back $$ Reid gave her.
Q15 – why is Michigan racially segregated. Bouch – we want a state that is integrated. we need people who will empower urban areas. I will call urban leaders. Debbie – under current Pres we have no urban strategy. President = largest cut in education, student loans, I oppose this. Diversity is our strength and I urge you to vote no on 2. Opponent wants me to return Reid’s $$, then he should return all the $$ he got from bush & cheney until they stop exporting our jobs.
Q16 – do you support immigrant bill? Debbie – my focus is on jobs we lose because of failed policies that encourage lower wage & no benefits. Bouch – border security is a safety issue. She can’t pick a side.
Q17 – how do we deal with high gas prices – Bouch – everyone is being hurt by cost of energy. opponent has filibusted energy bill. Debbie – supported energy bill that has tax credit for building new ethanol plants. we make things & grow things & we do it well, and that’s what we need to do.
Q18 – what’s your position on water diversion & quality, and what should federal role be? Debbie – authored 1st ban on drilling in great lakes. Bouch – need to protect water, need someone who gets results. not someone who talks about invasive species 10 years from now.
Q19 – whose fault is it if a young child fails to get an education? Bouch – need to bring community together with business leaders. Fed govt should not be driving mich policy. Debbie – education policy is economic policy. all involved including fed govt.
Closing – Stabenow – i was born & raised in MI, love this state, what’s happening to us is very personal. clear choice between someone who supports failed policies, and my effort to turn things around to keep our middle class & keep jobs here. we need a strategy that works for us. we don’t need someone saying ‘if you’ll work for less, give up your health care, and give up your pension, you can have a job.’
Closing – Bouch – Thank to Sen Stabenow for service & thank for all tuning in. I’d like to have more debates, because then I can get more attention. Compare my record with Stabenow’s rhetoric. Results vs talk. we’re the only state that sucks. she’s a nice person but that’s not enough. michigan sucks some more and i want my daughter to stay in michigan.
