Debate #2 Transcript

October 12th, 2006 | by christine |

The Granholm For Governor Truth Squad has published a complete transcript of the 2nd debate. Thanks to Wizardkitten for the link.

The sad thing about a transcript is that it doesn’t truly capture the style of the speaker. Amway Dick ’sounds’ much better in print. For example, this is what Dick said in his opening statement:

I saw the Governor of the State of Michigan look straight into the camera and lie to the people of Michigan. She knew better. Her staff had been shopping that story to the news media for months. I can’t say I was disappointed, I’m furious. The Governor is willing to go anywhere and do anything or say anything to keep her job in Michigan. The people of Michigan deserve better. I hope we can discuss the issues this evening.

And this is what Dick sounded like:

I saw the governor of the state of Michigan. [pause] Look straight into the camera. And lie to the people of Michigan. She knew better. She and her staff had been shopping that story to the news media for months. [pause] I can’t say I was disappointed. I’m furious. [pause] [pause] [up one octave] Apparentlythegovernoriswillingtogoanywhereanddoanything. [pause] [down one octave] Or say anything. [nod, smile] [no don’t smile - I’m furious] [pause] To keep her job in Michigan. People of Michigan. Deserve better. I hope we can discuss the issues. This evening.

Dick’s debate peformance was more than just an auditory disaster, it was a visual catastrophe for him as well. He’s shifty … literally … shifting weight from right to left, like some freaky weeble. He can’t stand up straight … he alternates between right shoulder down, left shoulder up and right shoulder up, left shoulder down. While doing this, he nods his head in such a way that you wonder if it isn’t completely independent from the rest of his body. (If he is intentionally mimicking a marionette, he should tell us that. He’s really good at it.) He doesn’t blink, which just makes the whole thing creepier.

And don’t they have lights on the cameras, so that he knows which direction to look when he’s speaking?

What a tool.

But I digress.

What do you expect from a liar? If he spoke the truth, he’d have no problem articulating himself. The problem is he’s a liar and it takes him a while to figure out how what to say.

    There are two other possibilities:

    1. He wears a wire and has to be coached on what to say.

    2. He’s so used to Betsy being his mouthpiece he doesn’t know how think and speak for himself.

He is painfully, wretchedly, horribly bad. It physically hurts me to watch. Especially when he gets excited and starts screeching like a monkey.

    (no offense to monkeys)

Why do you hate monkeys? ;-)

I wish they would do a transcript of the first one. I transcribed a bit… and, man, was it hard. He doesn’t make any sense in print.
