Dick Alert!

Dick Alert!

Today I received this letter from Campaign Of Dick:

Christine,

Thank you so much for contacting Dick DeVos’ campaign. As the Regional Director in the area I wanted to write a quick email to introduce myself.

Your support and willingness to join Dick’s Team for Change and assist with volunteer operations is extremely encouraging. Sam Burwell lisam6@verizon.net is the Shiawassee County Team for Change Chair and I would suggest contacting him regarding current needs of the campaign.

Right now we are in a very critical stage of the campaign. We are trying to contact all the voters in Michigan and ask them if they will be supporting Dick DeVos or Jennifer Granholm. We do this for two reasons: one, we need to get a good count of all those who are already supporting Dick and two, because its not the Presidential election year we expect that many more people will forget to vote. Therefore we want to keep track of all the folks who are supporting Dick so that come November we can give them a quick reminder either through the mail or over the phone to ensure that all the “right” people make it out to the polls and we win! I have attached two files to this email detailing a project we could really use your help with to this end. We will also be going out to fairs, parades, etc. to ask people who they will be supporting. Phoning folks is another great way to find out which candidate they will be supporting because its so quick and quite simple. In fact we have several “phone banks” set up all over the state and I urge you to contact your County Chair immediately to get the details because this is no small task and we need all the help we can get!

Thanks again Christine. I look forward to meeting you and working alongside you to bring positive change to Michigan’s leadership.

Sincerely,

Michael Jefferies

Here are the two files they sent, MS Word Format:

Contact And Group Signup Sheet
Group ID Info

Read them carefully (hold your nose). They both rate a near perfect ‘10′ on the Crap-O-Meter.

Hmmm….

1. Dick sells a crappy product & false hope.
2. Dick needs you to sign up a bunch of other people to buy & sell his crappy product & false hope.
3. 99.9% of us get screwed.

Is it Amway, or is it his campaign?

You can’t tell, can you?

Remember folks, Dick DeVos before DeVos dicks you.

Thank you for doing this. I can’t bring myself to sign up for any of his crap.

It’s hard enough just watching his damn ads on the local news- and to think that he plans on spending, what is it, 4x the money he has already spent- it’s going to get worse.

    Much worse.

    Bleah.

I have a Dick DeVos tv advertising eliminator, which protects me from ALL Dick DeVos tv ads. (it’s called a “remote”) That’s the only reason I can handle the Internet ads. But I DO NOT do the Video blogs!!

Wow, Christine, I’m jealous.Michael Jeffries didn’t send ME that email. The only one I got was a welcome to the campaign when I signed up for the email. (Maybe it was because I unchecked all the “volunteer for ..” boxes and gave a fake street address?” :-) )

Anyhow, thanks for the info. Is it just me, or would it be a little unnerving to have an endorsement letter go out over my name to all the organizations I belong to … without my actually sending it?

Kathleen, I volunteered to send letters to the editor. I gave all my real contact info, and boy howdy am I glad I did, because that’s how I the Dick Action Pack.

I considered signing up to do “nothing” but I wasn’t sure if they had an opening in that. Seems like there are lots of people doing that already. (although not enough doing that for the DeVos campaign.) I bet you would’ve at least gotten a bumper sticker, had you given your real address.

I hear they go through money like it’s water over there. Maybe they would’ve sent you some cash, or a coupon for a spray-on tan.

I wouldn’t like having a letter go out with my name on it, if I didn’t send it. I wouldn’t like that at all. It would feel like “the call is coming from inside the house.” Not terrifying, just creepy.
