Owosso Group To Form “Wall Of Love” At Funeral Today

June 30th, 2006 | by christine |

What started as an idea on this Shianet Forum thread has turned into an organized media event.

From ABC News:

Members of the Westboro Baptist Church out of Topeka, Kansas are expected to protest Friday at the funeral of Lance Corporal Brandon Webb.

The group claims that God is killing soldiers to punish our country for support homosexuality.

But those protests are not going unanswered.

Update: Organizer Kevin Brown’s MySpace site has commentary and pictures of the event.

Update: The Flint Journal reported on this story on 7-2: Protesters leave ‘filthy, Godless town’

Jack and I both attended this funeral and stood against the Westboro Baptist hate-mongers. I was especially proud of Haylee. When she found out that Jack and I planned on attending, she asked if she could go too. This was only about 30 minutes before we were leaving for the funeral, and I told her of course. You know, with all the difficulties life has given her, and the struggles she has daily because of her disability, she still knows right from wrong… and the best thing, she knows that it is more important to DO the right thing, not just BE right.

She stood with us, not able to hold a regular sized flag on a pole because of the paralysis in her right arm, but grinning ear to ear at being a part of this wall of love and grace.

    Tina

Thank you all for standing up for honor, love, and peace. If all the hate mongers could practice what they preach the world would be a better place. I say “Pay it Forward.”
