April Peace Gathering

People of Peace,

In January we agreed at our meeting in Owosso that our peace group needed to meet at least once a month. There have been a lot scheduling problems but I think now we have them worked out

I have been working with Pastor John Downing from St. John’s United Church of Christ in Owosso to schedule monthly meetings for our Peace Group. As more and more information comes out, I hope our numbers will grow (even though the most recent reports in the press say this isn’t so). We can use these meetings to work to that end and thereby increase our chances of making the necessary changes that are going to be needed if we are end Bush’s War in Iraq, in Afghanistan and on our people here at home. I am on The Michigan Peace network Steering Committee and our input into what is going on around the state and around the nation will be important.

John has offered the use of his church for our monthly meetings which will on or around the 20th of the month. For John and his congregation, Fridays are the best days to schedule these meetings. That would mean the meetings would be on April 21, May 19, June 23, July 21, August 18, Sept. 22, October 20, and November 17.

I hope I haven’t put you off so long that you are no longer interested in meeting on a regular basis. The revelations that seem to be coming at us day after day tells me that we need to meet now more than ever. The attack on Peace Groups has been intensified lately and I be;believe we need to rise to the challenge.

Please pass this information on to anyone who is interested in keeping the issues of peace and justice alive and in play in our area.
