Town Hall Forum On The War In Iraq
January 3rd, 2006 | by christine |St. John’s United Church of Christ Pastor, John Downing, has graciously offered his church for Shiawassee County’s Town Hall Meeting on Ending the War in Iraq. John is a Marine and peace activist. He has had children fighting in the war in Iraq.
Shiawassee County Veterans For Peace and Sojourners have been praying and working to stop/end the War in Iraq for almost 3 years. As or concerns mount about the deaths, injuries and destruction resulting from the war, the money spent/lost and how we were sold the war and whether or not laws were violated and ethics/morality compromised, the Iraq War has become less and less righteous. Decorated war veteran and congressman, John Murtha and other members of Congress are speaking out and calling for a reappraisal of our Iraq War policy.
Everyone (those who support and those who oppose the war) is invited to come out and talk together about whether that should be done and if so, how to make it happen. Speakers at a Town Hall Forum here in Owosso on Saturday, January 7th at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 429 N. Washington St. will include a number of veterans who will provide background information on the war and why they oppose it. This event will begin at 1:00PM with an open-ended end time.
