Metropolis

April 3rd, 2005 | by christine |

The public domain version of Metropolis is now available for download. This version is an 84Mb WMV file … yes, it’s ugly, but I don’t want to put large movie files on my site. I zipped the file to prevent streaming. If you’d like a high quality mpg, vcd, or dvd, contact me and I’ll send it to you for the cost of the disc + shipping. Really, if you want an inexpensive copy of the public domain version, you’re better off just going to a place like Amazon and getting this triple feature.

Metropolis really is a great movie, and it has an interesting and relevant message about class differences. You can visit the IMDB page for Metropolis at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0017136/. If you enjoy the movie, I encourage you to buy the Kino version. It’s beautiful.

I wish I’d have seen this movie in college. It would have been perfect in Dr. Gull’s Philosophy of Labor.

Fritz Lang is an interesting person … two of the best and most informative Fritz Lang sites are Fritz Lang: Master of Darkness, and The Films of Fritz Lang, by Michael E. Grost.

If you p2p, remember to share Metropolis!

Update, September 2, 2006: I have removed the Metropolis download from this site. If you are interested in a copy, send me an email and let me know if you want it on dvd or uploaded as mpg. This is the public domain version of this movie.
